So what’s been going on in your marketing world in the last couple of weeks that has caught your attention? If you can give me the headlines, then I will be able to pull them up when we come to speak about them.
Melanie farmer
Right so one is Nike teamed up with Roblox to create a virtual world called Nikeland.
Melanie Farmer
The next one, is IT news. So we were that we talked about all these but this is the last one should say. Twitter blames musk, weak ad market for drop in revenue.
Melanie Farmer
Very interesting, probably the most interesting. More than that even is I found an infographic which tells us the average revenue per user across cross nine platforms and their overall revenue and overall number of active users, which I think is so relevant to all of our conversations.
Melanie Farmer
So TikTok is outperforming Twitter $46 average revenue per user versus Twitter $9 revenue per user. But then interesting is that Twitter overall is like 3.7 billion revenue. versus TikTok 34.3 billion revenue. So it’s got $30 billion more revenue TikTok over Twitter. So it’s quite interesting anyway.
Martin Henley
We’re coming though we’re coming now. Okay, cool, right. So my stories are on Facebook is restoring the chronological feed of posts to their feed line, whatever it is called, which is proof. I think if proof when needed. There’s somebody at Facebook, probably Mark Zuckerberg is listening to our conversations. Because I’ve been talking about this for three months. And I had I had the most amazing thing, and they screwed it up. And then I’ve got the meta stock price. I think that’s quite interesting. And then the other story I’ve got is Google. Well, two weeks ago, Google was saying that their staff need to act more entrepreneurial, which means basically, they have to work harder and be more hungry, or else. And then, just this week, it’s been announced that they’ve put a freeze on recruitment.
Martin Henley
So I think that, like the bigger conversation is about, you know, it feels to me like the economy’s going down a toilet. Marketing is always the first in the firing line. If Google don’t even know how to deliver value in this environment, then what how hope is there for all of us. There’s hope for people listening to this, because hopefully, we’re gonna have a conversation and let them know what the value is that they offer in the world. If customers are hard to come by, you don’t just stop investing in getting customers. That’s suicide. Right there. Good. So now we need to prioritise these, shall we get the Twitter thing out of the way first, because we do seem to talk about Elon Musk, the world seems to talk about Elon Musk all the time. And it’s almost like he’s only ever doing this stuff for the attention. It’s almost like that, isn’t it? So almost like, how would Elon Musk fail if he wasn’t all over the newspapers every single morning and all over the feeds?
Melanie Farmer
It does feel like brand consistency to me.
Martin Henley
Really does. It feels like really effective PR, like somebody is always talking about Elon Musk at some time.
Melanie Farmer
He can’t launch a rocket every week, so
Martin Henley
He can’t. And he can’t have an affair, supposedly, allegedly, with every founding member of Google every week. You know, he can’t do that. He can’t do that. So it’s interesting. So what are they saying? So let’s go I’ve got a little bit of an issue with this. Oh, no, it’s resolved itself. Oh, no, it hasn’t. You might see that there’s a very faint blue light. Ah, it’s in the wrong place. Fixed our issue. Okay, cool. So Twitter, Twitter blames musk.
